Network Zones

  1. What is a Network Zone?

    A grouping of Access points or routers that is associated with your network set up. 

  2. What is the Default Zone created in my Network Zone page? 

    All new network requests are added to the 'Default Zone' once it has been assigned a user journey. It is created to ensure that any subscriber connecting to a previously unseen device is presented with a default user journey page.

  3. Why can’t I delete it? 

    The Default Zone must be assigned to a user journey to ensure that subscribers receive a portal page rather than an error message. Because of this, it cannot be deleted.

  4. How do I create a Network Zone?

    Navigate to the ‘Network Zones’ page from the left-hand menu items and click +Create a new Network Zone

  5. What is the purpose of the approval settings for Network Zones and how do I add an approver ?

    Approval settings is to ensure that changes to a Network Zone are reviewed and approved by designated approvers within your organization or your customer's organization. Go into your User settings in your account, click on the user and go to the notifications tab to enable the Approval notification for this user.

  6. What happens if dual approval is enabled?

    Assigning Network Zones to User journeys will require approval by designated approvers via automated email notifications. Approver will need to approve of this in order for your portal to be assigned to the zone. Any amendments to the Network Zone which includes changes to the VLANs ID, unassigning User Journeys or deletions of Network Zones will trigger an approval email.

  7. How do I assign Access points to this Network Group? 

    Once your Network Zone is created and the Default Zone is assigned to at least one User Journey and this User journey has seen activity, you can proceed to the Network Request page and select the devices from the lists. Click the assign icon, then choose the Network Zone you want to assign the devices to from the dropdown menu

User Journeys

  1. What authentication methods are supported?

    Click to Connect: Anonymous login without capturing PII.

    Voucher Codes/Custom Single Codes: Predefined codes for Wi-Fi access with configurable session limits and bandwidth.

    Property Management System: Enables a new user to get online by entering the last name and room number associated with their hotel stay.

    Dual Authentication : Enables a new user to get online via a choice of two authentication methods. Currently only PMS +Vouchers are supported.

  2. What is a User Journey?

    These are customised themes where you can configure the end user's experience and assign it to a network.

  3. How do I create a User Journey?

    Go to the ‘User Journeys’ page in the left-hand menu, click +Create a journey, and follow steps to configure the workflow settings and design.

  4. How come I don’t see the PMS authentication in the filter?

    To use the PMS authentication method, you need to have deployed the PMS module.

  5. Can I translate the Captive Portal into multiple languages?

    Yes, up to 65 languages are supported but the portal is only limited to 10. You can add, reorder, or remove languages under the language settings in the ‘Workflow’ tab. Please note only one language is supported for the service terms and redirect settings.

  6. Can I change the default language?

    Yes. To change the default language proceed to the ‘Workflow’ tab and click the pen icon to edit the languages. Add the language here and click the tick icon to make this the default language. The ‘Design’ will show the default language. 

  7. Can I overwrite a translated language?

    Yes, if you need to overwrite a language proceed to the ‘Design’ tab, and click on the translation icon. Switch into the language you want to overwrite and proceed to update this text on the design editor screen. Updating this language will not update the other languages.

  8. How can I customize the appearance of the Captive Portal?

    Use the ‘Design’ tab to update logos, colors, backgrounds, and text. Click each component to edit. Once you are happy with the changes, publish this latest version and assign it to a network.

  9. What does publishing a portal do?

    Publishing saves a version of this configured User Journey, which can then be assigned to a Network Zone. Once you make a change to the ‘Workflow’ or ‘Design’ tab you can publish a new version.

  10. How do I assign a User Journey to a Network Zone?

    After publishing, go to the ‘Assign a Network’ tab within your User Journey, click on Assign A Network Zones + to select a Network Zone, and apply it to the User Journey.

  11. Can I reassign a previous version of my User Journey to my network?

    Yes, on the ‘Assign a Network’ tab, click on the versioning management icon to choose the version you want to reassign to your network.

  12. How can I schedule updates to Network Zones?

    Click the Version Management icon under the ‘Assign a Network’ tab in your User Journey to schedule updates for a specific date and time. If you have approvers enabled this will only be scheduled once approved. Please note this icon will become visible once you have more than one User Journey published.

  13. Can I reassign a previous version of my User Journey to my network?

    Yes, on the ‘Assign a Network’ tab, click on the versioning management icon to choose the version you want to reassign to your network. This includes the previous published versions. 

Code Pools - Voucher & Single Custom Codes

  1. How do I create a Code Pool for Voucher authentication?

    Navigate to the ‘Code Pools’ page  from the left-hand menu, click +Create a new Code Pool, and configure the settings for Voucher Codes or Custom Single Codes.

  2. How do I assign a Code Pool to a User Journey?

    Select a theme with voucher authentication, in the ‘Workflow’ tab hover over the Voucher card and click the pen icon to edit then drag and drop the code pools in. Remember to publish this user journey and assign it to the network.

  3. Can I assign the same Code Pool to multiple journeys?

    Yes. For example you could assign Code Pool A to User Journey 1 and User Journey 2 at the same time.

  4. Can I generate additional voucher codes?

    Yes, after activating a Code Pool, click on the batch icon on the card to open up the batch drawer. Click Generate Batch to create additional codes. Download them as a CSV for distribution.

  5. Can I increase the batch count generated?

    No, codes can only be generated as batches as 100.
